The U.S. Postal Service celebrated the Year of the Horse with the issuance of a Forever stamp on January 15, 2014 in San Francisco, California. Original colorful artwork by Kam Mak was combined with two elements from the previous series of Lunar New Year stamps – artist Clarence Lee’s intricate paper-cut horse design and calligrapher Lau Bun’s grass-style Kenji character for “horse.” The horse is the 7th of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac associated with the Lunar calendar. People of Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Tibetan, and Mongolian heritage celebrate the Lunar New Year. People born in the Year of the Horse are said to be easygoing, intelligent, and willing to work hard.
7th in the U.S. Celebrating Lunar New Year stamp series.
Features drums, with red drumsticks for luck and peonies for prosperity, to welcome in the New Year.
An unusual and artistic gift for people born in the Year of the Horse.
Years of the Horse include 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026, and 2038.
Self-adhesive collectible stamps or use for postage.
